Job Description

The Swiss International Scientific School in Dubai is seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Years and Primary School Counsellor to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in promoting, delivering, and supporting health and wellbeing throughout the school. The role involves implementing proactive programs that foster resilience and wellbeing among students and staff, creating a supportive and nurturing school environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Student Support:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address emotional, social, and academic concerns.
  • Develop and implement intervention strategies to support students facing challenges.
  • Monitor and track the progress of students receiving counseling services.

2. Program Development and Implementation:

  • Design and deliver comprehensive health and wellbeing programs for students and staff.
  • Create and conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as stress management, resilience, and emotional regulation.
  • Implement proactive initiatives to foster a positive school culture and enhance student wellbeing.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with teachers, parents, and administrative staff to identify and address student needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss and plan for student support.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s progress and any concerns.

4. Crisis Intervention:

  • Provide immediate and effective support during crisis situations.
  • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans.
  • Train staff on recognizing and responding to student crises.

5. Professional Development:

  • Stay current with best practices in school counselling and wellbeing.
  • Attend professional development opportunities and contribute to staff training sessions.
  • Engage in continuous learning to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions and interventions.
  • Prepare reports on student progress and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s degree in School Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Valid counselling certification or licensure.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in school counselling, preferably within an international school setting.
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse school community.
