Job Description
- Maintains and keeps the operating room and ensures all equipment are functional before the conduct of surgery.
- Prepare surgical equipment /accessories for autoclaving/sterilization as per protocol.
- Maintains and keeps all medical equipment functional.
- Prepare necessary equipment /tools/accessories prior to procedure/surgery.
- Assist surgeon for any technical requirements during the procedure.
- Maintain procedure room/operating theatre equipment so as to ensure a clean, safe and efficient environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times, all patient surgery recordings to be transferred to USB/CD as per doctors/patients request.
- Be familiar with the correct operation/settings of all OT equipment’s: –
- Ensure gas, electrical, vacuum supplies are adequate for procedure at hand and/or back-up supply is available.
- Ensure the OR integration / recording systems in each theatre is functional and ready for use before each surgery.
- Ensure proper functioning and positioning of OT light during surgery, checking of electrocautery machine & foot pads (bipolar & unipolar leads with proper grounding).
- Ensure Infant Resuscitation/Warmer units should be checked for pediatric cases.
- Carry out minor repairs of equipment’s and change of parts like bulb of a microscope, OT light, change of oxygen flow sensor etc.
- Identify equipment & equipment consumables required for each theatre case, referencing with the operating team, operating list & surgeon preferences.
- Order and maintain adequate necessary supplies in the operating room.
- Correctly assemble and dissemble equipment as required.
- Safely store equipment and follow shut-down procedures in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations
- Report malfunctioning equipment to the Biomedical Department/OT Manager.
- To be available for ON CALL / Emergency cases as required.
- Performs other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
