The post holder will work collaboratively with other team members, will uphold and
live the NMC Nursing Strategy in order to provide safe and outstanding care to their
patient, relatives, friends and significant others all the time, every time.

Responsibilities

Ensure and oversee the care that is delivered to all patients in the unit is
safe, appropriate and effective.
• Determine nursing interventions based on assessment data. Prioritizes
identified needs,
• Implement nursing actions and evaluates patient outcomes. Develops or
revises the plan of care
• Deliver identified patient needs.
• Co-ordinate the overall clinical activities of the unit when assigned to the
charge nurse role.
• Collaborate with the Nursing Supervisor on staffing for a particular shift.
• Plan, implement and evaluate clinical programs. Evaluate the ability of
the patient/family/significant others to understand and participate in
decisions about their care.
• Facilitate patient education. Maintains accurate clinical records.
• Perform advanced or specialized nursing skills competently and
independently.
• Maintain current knowledge of clinical nursing practice.
• Act as a clinical resource for staff on unit.
• Communicate and consult with other health care disciplines. Act as a
patient advocate.
• Represent nursing at multidisciplinary rounds.
• Participate in the development of standards, procedures and protocols.
• Facilitate evidence based practice.
• Promote change in nursing practice when required.
• Take a proactive role under the guidance of Nursing
Management/Nursing Education in training, education and CQI activities
of nursing staff.
• Promote a learning environment.
• Identify opportunities for improvement.
• Perform other professional duties as may be assigned within his/her
scope and ability

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL: The post holder must:
Minimum
Qualifications &
Experience
• Have evidenced ability to manage people and teams
• Have an appropriate license to work as a nurse in the relevant regulatory
health authority (DoH, DHA) with all the qualification and experience this
mandates.
• Manage their own professional revalidation
• Have basic life support qualification (within past 24 months)
• Have an active interest in the clinical field in which they are employed
• Be willing to work across departments when necessary
• Be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (spoken and
written)
DESIRABLE: The post holder should have:
• Evidenced experience/expertise in the clinical field in which they are
employed
• Evidenced ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Organizational and administrative skills with which to use the HIS platform
for clinical documentation
• Be able to communicate effectively in Arabic
