Job Description
The Medical Practitioner operates under the supervision of the Consultant Physician and/or Specialist Physician, and shares responsibility for delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care.
Responsibilities
•   Oversees results of all investigations and modifies treatment in a timely manner with the approval of the Consultant or Specialist physicianÂ
•   Assists senior physicians in diagnoses and treating patientsÂ
•   Participates in daily ward rounds and reassesses inpatients and outpatients as clinically appropriate and as directed by the Consultant and/or SpecialistÂ
•   Oversees the organization of tests and records resultsÂ
•   Liaises with other medical specialties and support services for additional input as requiredÂ
•   Provides support to the  Interns as determined by the Consultant PhysicianÂ
•   Manages and admits appropriate referrals accepted by the Consultant or Specialist Physician from the Emergency Department, primary care, specialty clinics, walk-in patients and patients referred from other hospitalsÂ
•   Contributes to the diagnoses and treatment of patients according to established standards of ‘best practice’.Â
•   Communicates information to patients and patients ‘familiesÂ
•   Participates in the organization’s performance management system including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processesÂ
•   Participates in committees and working groupsÂ
•   Participates in administrative duties as requested by the senior physiciansÂ
•   Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient careÂ
•   Complies with all hospital policies regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, prescribing and discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practicesÂ
•   Performs other clinical  as assignedÂ
•   Manages to help and support quality improvement within the department according toÂ
established policies and proceduresÂ
•   Participates in regular clinical auditÂ
•   Assists in the Medical Education and professional development opportunitiesÂ
•   Participates in regular teaching sessions and provides teaching for interns and medical students as requestedÂ
•   Participates in clinical research activities in the departmentÂ
•   Manages to keep abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industryÂ
•   Provides out-of-hours (on-call) coverage on a rotational basis including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidaysÂ
•   Under the supervision of a Consultant or Specialist Physician, contributes to the diagnoses and treatment of patients according to established standards of ‘best practice’.  The Medical Practitioner’s clinical duties include but are not limited to the following:Â
•   Communicates information to patients and patients ‘families and friends (with the consent of the patient) in a timely mannerÂ
•   Supports and adheres to all established l initiatives, policies and procedures as requestedÂ
•   Participates in the organization’s performance management system, including peer review and the productivity and utilization review processesÂ
•   Participates in committees and working groups as requestedÂ
•   Assumes other administrative duties as requested by the senior physiciansÂ
•   Maintains a good working relationship with members of staff and promotes collaboration and a team-based approach to patient careÂ
•   Complies with all hospital polices regarding admissions, consultations, daily patient care, surgical procedures, prescribing and discharge protocols, outpatient and follow-up practicesÂ
•   Adheres to established policies regarding patient confidentiality and informed consentÂ
•   Performs other clinical  as assignedÂ
•   Helps support quality improvement within the Department according to established policies and proceduresÂ
•   Participates in regular clinical auditÂ
•   Actively involved in Continued Medical Education and professional development opportunitiesÂ
•   Participates in regular teaching sessions and provides teaching for interns and medical students as requestedÂ
•   Participates in clinical research activities in the departmentÂ
•   Keeps abreast of the current, relevant literature and the latest trends and technologies in the industryÂ
•   Adheres to SSMC clinical practice guidelines with priority in delivering high value careÂ
AccountabilitiesÂ
•   Accurately documents all relevant clinical information in a clear and timely fashion in accordance with established protocolsÂ
•   Manages to support and help with the preparation of patients for procedures/surgery including obtaining informed consentÂ
•   Ensures patients receive the highest standard of medical careÂ
•   Adheres to the SSMC clinical practice guidelines with a priority in delivering high-value careÂ
Qualifications
Experience :-
Required:
• For Non UAE Nationals: NLT 2 years relevant experience post internship (Hospital, P.H.C, ER, etc.).
• For UAE Nationals and Non UAE National graduates of UAE medical schools: no additional experience is required after successful completion of internship.
• Special Note: Non UAE Nationals accepted into HAAD accredited residency programs through TANSEEQ will not require additional experience after successful completion of the internship is required

Educational Qualification: Required:
• Graduate from a Medical school / college listed in the Avicenna Directory of medical schools published by the World Health Organization (WHO) or the International Medical Education Directory (IMED) of the foundation for the Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER)
AND
• Successful completion of internship (as per HAAD criteria) and evidence of national registration/license
